Having become the King’s Champion and head assassin for the kingdom, Celaena is trying to work her way to freedom. Four years working for the tyrannical king she hates and she’ll be able to walk away. However, after he orders the death of an old friend on suspicion of “rebellion,” she’s determined to investigate further. Soon discovering massive forces at work, Celaena must decide where her loyalties lie, even as everything she holds dear and the people she holds close crumble around her.

Remember how much I loved the first one? (Hint: I LOVED LOVED it). It turns out that Crown of Midnight is even better. Seriously. Celaena goes through some serious emotional traumas that had me marveling at the author’s writing skills. There’s just the right amount of suspense, romance, betrayal…and the bomb she drops at the end had me mourning the fact that the third in the series is not due until September. Go! Go and read this book!
