Flannel Friday: Going Back to School with 10 Little Crayons

School is starting next week for kids here in AZ (which is crazy to me, because I swear when I grew up school didn't start until September...). Either way, I've got school on the brain and I thought it'd be fun to do a Flannel that incorporates this theme.

Ten Little Crayons!

Tune: 10 Little Indians
One little, two little, three little crayons
Four little, five little, six little crayons
Seven little, eight little, nine little crayons
Ten little crayons to take to school!

You can sing this little song as you put your crayons on the flannel board, counting them together. Then, there's some more math activities that I like to do to challenge my little preschoolers and get them thinking. For instance...

Which color has the most crayons? Which color has the least?

Patterns! If I use my blue crayon on Sunday, and red crayon on Monday...

This flannel would go great with The Day the Crayons Quit or here's a little list of fun back-to-school books here. There's all sorts of back-to-school fun to be had with crayons! Whether you're starting now or in September, of course :)
