22 Awesome Children's Book Character Costumes

You've probably already figured out what costume you'll wear for Halloween this year, but I still want to highlight some of the most awesome literary costumes I've seen. Heck, wear these anytime! Dr. Seuss Day, World Book Day, book reports...any book-themed event, really.

1. The Man in the Yellow Hat from Curious George (Haute Apple Pie)

2. Peddler from Caps for Sale (Coolest Handmade Costumes)

3. Pete the Cat (source unknown)

4. The Rainbow Fish (source unknown)

5. The Very Hungry Caterpillar (Bowdenisms)

6. The Pigeon from Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! (Annapolis County Spectator)

7. Anything from Harry Potter! But this Moaning Myrtle is particularly impressive (KateJohns)

8. Madeline (Classy in the Classroom)

9. Sam I Am from Green Eggs and Ham (It's Always Autumn)

10. Olivia (I Want To Be a Super Teacher)

11. Greg Heffley from Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Project Denneler)

12. Nancy Drew (Ashley Brooke Designs)

13. I Spy! Yes, just be the book itself! (TPCraft)

14. Oompa Loompa from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (SewSara)

15. Eloise (People Webs)

16. The mouse (and cookie) from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (Instructables)

17. Pippi Longstocking (Totally Tessa)

18. Matilda (source unknown)

19. The Berenstain Bears (LoveJac)

20. Amelia Bedelia (Frank Eaton Flickr)

21. Elephant & Piggie (source unknown)

22. Emily Elizabeth from Clifford the Big Red Dog (Kathi Fly Art)

K, it was seriously hard to stop. There are SO MANY awesome costumes out there! But I ended with my favorite. Maybe it's because my name is Emily, or because I always wanted a giant dog named Clifford, but I sure look forward to dressing up as Emily Elizabeth! What are you going to be for Halloween?
