Storytime From Space

Have you guys heard about this? It's the COOLEST storytime ever. Which is saying a lot, because I have some pretty cool storytimes (I'm so humble). But this storytime?

It's from astronauts. In the Space Station. Yeah.

They have already sent one collection of picture books and had a set of storytimes filmed. Totally awesome, you could show them in a classroom or a space-themed storytime or just watch it in your underwear before bed. So are they going to do more?

Well guess what tomorrow is?? Launch day for a second set of picture books! More info can be found on their home page. Seven books will be included, but I want to highlight my favorite and share some coordinating activities.

Guess what? Storytime finally starts up again next week! We take the summer off to concentrate on summer reading and collection management. So, preschool storytime prep is fully underway this week!

For this post, then, I thought I'd just show some of the themes I'm planning for this semester, and the fantastic new and favorite books I'll be using for each. Maybe it'll get your brain going for some ideas of your own!

My Favorite Storytimes (So Far)

August at our library is our break from most programming, including storytime. We need to recover from summer reading and get our collection presentable again. So since I won't have any new storytimes over the next couple weeks, I thought I'd just take the chance to share a list of my favorite past storytimes. If you're looking for some ideas or whatnot, try these on for size.

1 - Ninjas

High-flying action? Check. My first ever solo-designed and created felt story? Check. Kids yelling "HIYAH!"? Check. Let's face it, ninjas are just that cool and this is a great storytime for having some fun.

So, obviously, storytime is storytime because you're sharing stories. You're highlighting books the library has to offer. But! There are so many things to supplement the stories of storytime that make storytime that much more fun for everyone involved! How many times can I say storytime?
